In Nepal, counseling practice has been emerging as the most popular mental health service. The country lacks adequate mental health professionals for the treatment of mental health problems. Most of the psychiatrists and clinical psychologists are confined in urban areas whereas majority of the people live in rural areas. Para-counselors are located in different districts and have been providing mental health services to the people who can never reach the hospitals located in the cities. Many of these para-counselors have short-term training in communication skills and problem solving counseling. This book on counseling is hoped to be popular among the M.A. and PGDCP students as well as para-counselors who really want to expand their knowledge and practice in counseling. The book is comprehensible and written in a simple way covering some basic ideas of counseling as well as techniques.
