With the restoration of democracy in 1990 it was expected that enthusiasm and spirit of national service seen after the overthrow of Rana rule in 1951 would be revived and regenrated, but this has not been the case. The reason is the leadership lacking a sense of mission-- a sense that it is successful only if the nation as a whole devleops. Economic and social development have a direct link to educaiton. Not a single country of the world has ever developed without investing in good quanlity education for its children. 
What can be more painful to witness than a leadership unable to see the people as its greatest resoruce and the source of power for change? There can still be chang, but only if the will is there. This book analyses the problems of education in Nepal in a critical ways, reviewing the past and indicating the direction for the future.
