Tenaliraman, original name - Garlapati Ramakrishnacharyuyu, was a humorous poet and jester in the court of King Krishna Devarayalu, who ruled Vijaynagar Empire in South India in the 16th Century. Known for his brilliance and wisdom, he was also known as Vikat Kavi. He believed in teaching the important lessons through humor and sometimes even rendered the King speechless with his witty remarks. He had an exceptional position in the court and in the heart of King Krishna Devarayalu. His tales have been narrated by the generations, and have provided moral teachings as well as entertainment. This collection of stories displays his quick wits, intelligence, shrewdness, patriotism and ability to solve complicated problem through common sense.
