The Headway English Book series adopts an eclectic approach that gears towards students' fluency and accuracy of English. On the one hand there is an endeavour to integrate the four language skills viz: listening, speaking, reading and writing. On the other hand, formal grammar is also introduced. The reason for this being that 'grammar' does form an essential part specially in a second language learning situation. 
The content of each lesson has been selected carefully keeping in mind the particular age group, their comprehension level and their interest. Each text is followed by a series of exercises in vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, composition and other related activities.
